Open Spaces & Assets

The Town Council has responsibility for several open space areas within the parish. Grounds Maintenance is undertaken by contractor – Wil Smith of T.T.S.R Limited with some work supported by the Town Operative.

TTSR maintain all the hanging baskets, planters and concrete tree surrounds that contribute to the look and feel of the High Street.

The Council owns the children’s playgrounds situated at the Watton Sports Centre on Dereham Road , Bridle Road just off Stokes Avenue along the Brandon Road, Lovell Gardens along the Norwich Road and Hare’s Green on Harvest Road. All Play areas are for the use of children up to 12 years of age.

As part of its responsibilities, the Council maintains many items of street furniture such as the seats, bus shelters, the notice boards in the Vets car park, Thetford Road car park and Cadman Way car park. The Town Council is also responsible for the Town Hall, Litter and Dog waste bins, Watton boundary signs and Watton Town signs.

Other areas managed by the Town Council are Jubilee Garden, Millennium Garden and the open spaces at Shire Horse Way, Norwich Road and Heritage Park.

Breckland District Council and Norfolk County Council also have some responsibility for maintenance of areas, including street lights, under their ownership within the town and parish.
