Biodiversity Working Group
The purpose of the Biodiversity Working Group (BWG) is to support the Town Council (TC) to carry out expenditure of the biodiversity budget. To work towards a sustainable TC, and enhancing the biodiversity of Watton. The BWG, when appropriate, may also discuss biodiversity risk in planning applications.
Biodiversity Mission Statement 2026:
In accordance with the duty imposed on town and parish councils, we must from time to time consider what action the authority can properly take, consistently with the proper exercise of its functions, to further a general biodiversity objective.
To this end, we pledge to:
- Strive to conserve and enhance the biodiversity of Watton.
- Consider the potential impact on biodiversity represented by planning applications.
- Manage our land and property using environmentally friendly practices that can promote biodiversity.
- Encourage and support other organisations within the town to manage their areas of responsibility with biodiversity in mind.
